Talk title: Using the visual system to quantitatively evaluate cortical function in Rett syndrome and Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
Abstract: There are a variety of genetic variants that confer high risk for developing autism. We have been conducting a line of research with children with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) and Rett Syndrome focused on the development of predictive models for autism, and neurophysiological assays that can be used as readout for cortical function. In this talk I will focus on how EEG frequency spectra and the visual evoked potential can shed light on brain function in children with TSC and Rett.
